  • 1. What are the rental requirements?

    • A valid Malaysian or International Driving License is required.

    • Drivers must be between 21 and 65 years of age.

    • A security deposit is required.

    • Rental payment is accepted via credit card only.

  • 2. What is CDR (Collision Damage Reduction)?

    • Collision Damage Reduction is an optional liability limitation provided by Hornbill Car Rental to reduce the hirer financial responsibility in the event of a collision caused by the Hirer.

    • CDR is not an insurance policy. It is a contractual agreement that limits the
    hirer’s liability to a fixed amount, as stated in the Rental Agreement and
    subject to its terms and conditions.

    • CDR does not cover certain types of damage, including but not limited to damage to tires, rims, windscreen, mirrors, undercarriage, and any damage caused by negligence, misuse, drive-thru flood area or breach of the Rental Agreement.

    • CDR is optional but recommended, especially for long-distance or during
    festive seasons.

  • 3. Are your vehicles allowed for outstation use?

    • Yes, selected vehicles may be used for outstation travel across Sarawak and Sabah.

    • Hirers must inform the company in advance of any outstation journeys.

    • Additional charges will apply depending on the destination.

    • Only newer and well-maintained vehicles are allocated for long-distance travel to ensure safety and reduce the risk of breakdowns.

  • 4. Are your vehicles allowed to cross into Brunei or Indonesia?

    • Brunei: Vehicles may enter Brunei; however, only selected models are
    permitted due to Brunei’s strict regulations on tinted windows. Vehicle dropoffs inside Brunei are not allowed.

    • Indonesia: Vehicles are not permitted to cross the border into Indonesia. Insurance coverage and roadside assistance do not extend there. Any vehicle Page 2 of 20 taken across the Indonesian border would leave both the hirer and the company unprotected in the event of an accident, theft, or breakdown.

  • 5. When will I receive my security deposit back?

    • For cash deposits, refunds are processed immediately upon vehicle return during operating hours.

    • For returns made outside operating hours, cash deposit refunds will be completed within 3 working days.

  • 6. Do you provide drop-off and pick-up services, and what are the charges?

    Yes, we do. Drop-off and pick-up are available at major airports and city locations. An additional fee applies, and charges may vary by location.

  • 7. What surcharges or additional fees should I be aware of?

    • Waiting surcharge: Applies for pick-ups or returns outside operating hours (8:00 AM – 10:00 PM). Please refer to the surcharge schedule.

    • Late return fee: Additional charges apply if the vehicle is returned later than the agreed rental period.

    • After-hours pick-up/drop-off: Can be arranged in advance, subject to
    availability and surcharge.

    • Long-distance / outstation surcharge: Additional fees apply for approved outstation trips, depending on the destination.

    • Drop-off surcharge: Applies if the vehicle is dropped off at a different location than the pick-up point.

  • 8. Do you provide official receipts and e-invoices?

    Yes. Official receipts and e-invoices are issued for all payments made directly to our company. Payments made to third parties are not eligible. by location.

  • 9. What are your payment methods?

    • Credit card (for rental payments)

    • Cash (accepted only for security deposits)

  • 10. What is the fuel policy?

    Vehicles must be returned with the same fuel level as at the time of collection. If returned with less fuel, a refuelling charge will apply, depending on the vehicle category.

  • 11. What happens if I don't report an outstation trip?

    Failure to declare an outstation trip may result in penalties and can affect both your Collision Damage Reduction (CDR) coverage and your security deposit.

  • 12. Is SST included in the rental rates?

    No. All rental rates are quoted before the 8% Sales and Service Tax (SST).

  • 13. How can I make a reservation?

    Reservations can be made through our online booking system, by email, via WhatsApp, or by calling our hotline directly.
